The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)is a two-year, four-semester professional programme that prepares graduates to teach at the secondary and higher-secondary level. The programme is offered bySheikh-ul-Alam College of Educationunder the affiliation of the University of Kashmirand in compliance with NCTE norms.
Since our founding in 2002, the B.Ed programme has been at the heart of our institution. We have trained hundreds of teachers who now serve in schools across Kupwara and wider Kashmir, carrying the values of knowledge, humility, and service into classrooms every day.
The programme integrates theory with extensive school-based practice — ensuring that graduates are not just academically prepared but are confident, reflective professionals ready for the realities of teaching.

Eligibility Criteria
Who can apply for the B.Ed programme.
Eligibility for the B.Ed programme is set by the University of Kashmir. You may apply if you meet any one of the following:
- A Bachelor's degree (10+2+3 pattern) with at least 50% marks (General category) or 45% (Reserved categories) — in the Bachelor's and/or Master's degree — in Sciences, Social Sciences, or Humanities.
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology with specialisation in Science and Mathematics, with at least 55% marks, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the University of Kashmir.
- Graduate teachers under the 10+2+2 scheme with a minimum of two years' teaching experience in Government or Government-recognised schools.
